• Full Restorative Program: Our resident centered programs are designed to achieve the highest level of functional independence. 
• High Staffing Ratios:  Karen Acres provides 24 hour RN or LPN coverage.
• Assistance with Activity:  If needed, we assist with dressing, bathing, eating, walking, medications, treatments, etc.
• Hospice Care: If your loved one needs end of life care, Karen Acres offers hospice services onsite, ensuring your loved one does not have to move.
• Respite Care:  Karen Acres can provide respite care for various periods of time as needed pending availability.  Minimum required stay:  7 days.
• Award-winning therapists:  Blue Stone Therapy implements programs focused on preventing falls & balance loss, memory care programming, stroke recovery, and post-surgical rehab including joint replacement. PT, OT, and ST are available.  Blue Stone Therapy is the leading specialist in senior rehabilitation services whose purpose is Building Strength to Enhance Lives.

Karen Acres Care Center was recently recognized by U.S. News & World Report as a Best Nursing Home for 2024 – a status earned by only 19% of skilled-nursing facilities nationwide.

Since 2009, U.S. News’ annual Best Nursing Homes ratings have assisted consumers in need of either short-term rehabilitation or long-term care for themselves or a family member.

Karen Acres Healthcare Center earned its U.S. News Best Nursing Home status by achieving a rating of “High Performing,” the highest possible rating, for Long-Term Care. U.S. News awards the designation of Best Nursing Home only to those that satisfy U.S. News’ assessment of consistent performance in objective quality measures.

For the 2024 edition, U.S. News rated more than 15,000 nursing homes on residents’ outcomes -- such as infection rates, staffing levels, potentially inappropriate reliance on antipsychotic drugs, health inspection results, and other indicators of quality.

Karen Acres Healthcare Center is located in the heart of Urbandale offering long term care, skilled rehab, and respite care with a 5-star CMS rating.  The maximum occupancy is 35 residents which allows for personalized and attentive care.  There are currently openings for long term care and skilled rehab.
